Different reasons. Same destination.Different reasons, same destination.

Ghana pulls people home and draws people in. Whatever put this move on your calendar, the logistics are ours to solve.

Returning home after years abroad

Furniture, appliances, the car in the driveway. We move complete households and know what Tema port will ask for.

Relocating to Ghana for work or a new chapter

A posting, a new business, a fresh start in Accra. We handle the Ghana side as a local company.

Sending a life's worth, not a household

A few barrels or boxes get the same handling and tracking as a full container, sized to your budget.

Most moves use more than one. Most moves use more than one.

The right answer is usually a split: the bulk by sea, essentials by air, the car on its own routing. We'll build it when we quote you.

Sea freight

The body of the move: furniture, appliances, barrels, boxes, vehicles · 5 to 8 weeks

Priced by what you send: boxes and barrels for a room, a shared or full container for a home. Port and customs delays are rare but we flag them the moment we know.

Air freight

What you cannot wait for: documents, clothing, laptops, a child's essentials · 3 to 5 business days

Send the suitcase you'd have overpacked. Priced on chargeable weight, for the things you need the first week.

Vehicle shipping

Cars, SUVs and pickups, containerized or RORO · Quoted with your move

We advise containerized vs RORO, arrange U.S. towing if needed, and clear at Tema. Bring the title and keys.

Corporate account

Employee relocations on invoice, with a named coordinator · Per assignment

One coordinator per assignment, a documented inventory, and account invoicing your mobility team can forward as-is.

Frequently asked questions

What people ask before they move.Common questions.

How long does a move to Ghana take?

Sea shipments typically take five to eight weeks from departure. Air freight takes three to five business days. Add time at the front for packing and loading, and at the back for customs clearance and delivery. Port congestion, vessel schedules, customs and holidays can extend sea transit, and we update you whenever a date moves.

How much does it cost to move to Ghana?

It depends on volume, what is in the load, whether a vehicle is included and how fast you need it. That is why we quote rather than publish a rate card, a household of three rooms and a full four bedroom house are not the same shipment. Send us a list or photos and you will have a written quote, usually within one business day.

Do you pick up from my house, or do I have to bring things to you?

We collect from your address. Our team or an approved carrier handles pickup anywhere in the United States. You can also drop off at our Lawrenceville warehouse if that suits you better.

Can you deliver to my house in Ghana?

Yes, within Accra and the surrounding areas our own drivers deliver to your door and bring items inside. For destinations further out, including Kumasi, we arrange onward transport by an approved carrier such as STC or VIP and tell you where and when to collect. We do not have a Kumasi branch and we will not pretend otherwise.

Do I pay duties and taxes in Ghana?

Usually yes. Ghana charges import duties and port fees on household goods, with the amount depending on the items and their assessed value. Personal effects relief may apply in some cases. We tell you what is expected before the charges are incurred, and we handle the clearing process itself.

Should I send everything by sea, or split it?

Most people split. Send the furniture and appliances by sea, and put the first two weeks of your life, clothes, laptops, documents, school things, medication, on an air shipment that arrives before you finish unpacking. We will suggest the split when we quote.

Can I ship my car with my household goods?

Yes. Cars, SUVs and pickups ship containerized or RORO depending on the vehicle and the schedule. We can tow it to the loading point if you are outside Georgia, and we clear it at Tema. Bring the title, we will tell you what else is needed.

Do you pack for me?

We can, and for fragile, oversized or awkward items we would rather. You are also welcome to pack yourself, just label the boxes and keep a list, since customs may ask for one.

Will anyone open my boxes?

Not unless you ask us to, or unless there is visible damage, a security or compliance requirement, or customs or the carrier requires it. We do not open or consolidate shipments on our own initiative.

Are my things insured?

We are confirming the exact wording of our current coverage for this page. Ask your moving coordinator for the current insurance options and how a claim is filed before your move.

How do I know where my shipment is?

We send updates at every stage: received, awaiting loading, departed with an ETA, ETA changes, arrived, under clearance, ready for delivery, by WhatsApp and email. You can also check the status yourself any time through our tracking page or your myHobort account.

What if something is damaged or missing?

Tell us immediately. We photograph and record every piece when it is received, so we can compare against that record, investigate handling and carrier responsibility, and resolve it. We would rather fix it than argue about it.

Can I store things with you before the move?

Short-term storage before loading can usually be arranged. Let us know when you enquire so we can plan warehouse space and tell you about any storage charges.

Can I ship a lithium battery, a power station or an e-bike?

Often yes, but never as ordinary cargo. These are regulated dangerous goods that need correct classification, packaging, labelling and airline acceptance. Tell us what you have and we will tell you whether it goes by air, by sea, or not at all.

When should I book?

As early as you can, six to eight weeks before you want to arrive is comfortable for a sea move. That said, we move people on short notice regularly. Call us even if your dates are tight.
